A Pair Of Skiers From Three Different Schools Earn RMISA Skier of the Week Honors

WINTER PARK & DEVILS THUMB, Colo. – A total of six skiers, two each from three different schools, earn RMISA Skier of the Week honors from both the Denver Invitational and the RMISA Alpine Qualifier, both held here last week.

In the Denver Invitational, Colorado’s Gabriel Rivas won the men’s alpine honor with a second place showing in the slalom race and a third place in the giant slalom. New Mexico’s Stefanie Demetz won the women’s alpine honor with a second place in the giant slalom and ninth in the slalom.

Alaska Anchorage’s Raphael Wunderle took home the men’s nordic honor with a second place finish in the freestyle race and a third place in the classical. The Lobos’ Polina Ermoshina took second in the classical and sixth in the freestyle to win the women’s nordic award.

For the RMISA Alpine Qualifier, which began last month in Eldora with the slalom race and concluded in Winter Park last weekend with the giant slalom race, the Seawolves’ Halfdan Falkum-Hansen took the men’s honor home with a sixth place finish in the slalom and a seventh place in the giant slalom. The Buffaloes’ Carolina Nordh concludes the honorees as she won the women’s alpine honor for the RMISA Qualifier with a fourth place finish in the slalom and 12th in the giant slalom.

With the regular season now concluded, RMISA skiers continue their season Feb. 19-21 with the RMISA Championship, which serves as both the conference and regional championships for skiing, in Reno, Nev., hosted by the University of Nevada.

  • DU Invite: Stefanie Demetz, New Mexico.
  • RMISA Qualifier: Carolina Nordh, Colorado.
Men’s Nordic
  • UAA Invite: Vegard Kjoelhamar, Colorado.
  • Seawolf Invite: Simon Reissmann, New Mexico.
  • CU Invite: Matt Gelso, Colorado.
  • DU Invite: Raphael Wunderle, Alaska Anchorage.
Women’s Nordic
