DU's Trolleboe, CU's Knori Win Classic Races

ANCHORAGE, Alaska—Denver's Dag Trolleboe and Colorado's Jesse Knori won the men's and women's classical races of the UAA Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Utah holds a two-point leads in the standings over Denver with the freestyle races remaining on Sunday.

Denver, Utah and Alaska Fairbanks all had three skiers in the top 10 of the men's 10-km race. Utah came away with a race-high 95 points as Kevin Bolger finished second, Martin Bergstroem was fourth and Martin Mikkelsen placed sixth. Denver had 94 points behind winner Trolleboe (his second win of the season), Moritz Madlener in fifth and Eivind Kvaale in seventh. Alaska Fairbanks saw Michael Fehrenbach finish eighth, Jan Cech in ninth and Nick Lovett in 10th. Also in the top 10 was Colorado's Petter Reistad in third, his fourth podium of the year.

In the women's 5-km race, Knorri earned her first win of the year with CU's Christian Rolandsen second for her second podium of the season. The Buff's Anne Siri Lervik finished eighth to give Colorado a race-high 100 points. Utah's Guro Jordheim also finished on the podium with a third-place run, her third podium of the year. Denver, Alaska Anchorage and Alaska Fairbanks each had two skiers in the top 10. Denver's Jasmi Joensuu had her third top-five finish of the year with a fourth-place run while Taeler McCrerey had her fourth top-10 of the year with a 10th-place finish. Casey Wright earned her third top-five of the year for UAA with Natalie Hynes in seventh, and Alaska Fairbanks was led by Nichole Bathe's sixth with Ann Uhl ninth for her first top 10 of the year.

The Utes lead the UAA Invite with 478 points, just ahead of Denver's 476 points. Colorado stands third with 416 points with New Mexico fourth (393) and Montana State fifth (348).

The Nordic teams close out their Alaska trip on Sunday, Feb. 12, with the women's 15-km and men's 20-km freestyle races.
