CU Sweeps GS Qualifiers With Accambray and Fausa

Saturday, February 8, 2025 • by Curtis Snyder, RMISA

PARK CITY, Utah—Colorado's Louison Accambray and Louis Fausa picked up giant slalom wins in an RMISA qualifier race held head of the Utah Invitational here at Utah Olympic Park.

In the women's race, Accambray had the fastest time in both runs and racked up a 1.36 second win over the field. Denver's Sara Rask was second with Utah's Claire Timmermann taking third. Westminster's Elsie Hitter took fourth and MSU's Justine Lamontagne was fifth, giving five different teams the five top finishers.

In men's action, Fausa picked up the win on the strength of the fastest second run, moving up from seventh place to first with his fast second run. He topped teammate Jacob Dilling for third and a pair of Utes Johs Herland and Sindre Myklebust took third and fourth before another CU skier Etienne Mazellier rounded out the top five. The Buffs actually placed five in the top eight of the race.

The Utah Invitational will now commence here Sunday with another GS race as part of that meet.
