Riksaasen, Richter Named RMISA Skiers of the Meet

Sunday, February 7, 2021 • by Curtis Snyder, RMISA

BOULDER—Utah's Bjorn Riksaasen and Julia Richter both earned RMISA Skier of the Meet honors for the Colorado Invitational, the league announced Sunday.

Riksaasen was the runner up in both races, first the freestyle sprint races held on Friday at Aspen High School, then in the 10K classic race on Saturday.

Richter won both races on the women's side, the fourth and fifth wins of her career.

RMISA skiers can only win the award once per season and the winner is calculated on the accumulation of NCAA qualification points earned over the two races that constitute a meet.

Previous winners this season were Magnus Boee (CU) and Novie McCabe (UU) for the RMISA Invitational at Utah, followed by Samuel Hendry (UU) and Astrid Stav (UAA) for the DU Invitational on the Nordic side. In alpine action, Gustav Voello (UU) and Julia Toiviainen (WMC) won for the DU Invitational and Francesco Gori (WMC) and Madison Hoffman (UU) for the CU Invitational.

Alpine action continues Monday and Tuesday with the RMISA Invitational at Westminster with two slalom races for each gender taking place at Snowbird.
