Nordic Squads Head To Utah Invitational

MIDWAY, Utah—The RMISA travels to Utah for the Nordic portion of the Utah Invitational beginning on Friday, Feb. 14 with the freestyle interval start races beginning at 9:00 a.m., followed by the classic mass start races on Saturday, Feb. 15, beginning at 9:00 a.m. All four races will be held at Soldier Hollow Resort in Midway.

The Utes have won both meets this season, winning both the Colorado Invitational and Denver Invitational.

Women's Skiers to Watch
  • A Utah skier has won five of the six women's races this year.
  • Utah's Guro Jordheim has four wins this year and is the only skier in the league to finish in the top five in every race this year. She has not finished lower than fourth.
  • Utah's Leah Lange won her first career race last weekend in the freestyle RMISA qualifier in Aspen last weekend. She is tied for second in the league with three podium finishes this year.
  • Denver's Eveliina Piippo won her first career race in her second collegiate race in the Owl Creek Chase. She has two podiums in her two starts.
  • Colorado's Anne-Siri Lervik has three podiums in her four starts this year. Her three podiums is tied for second in the league.
  • Utah's Mariah Bredal has two podium and four top-five finishes.
  • Other skiers who have finished on the podium this year are Alaska Anchorage's Anna Darnell, Montana State's Emma Tarbath and Utah's Karianne Moe.
Men's Skiers to Watch
  • Colorado's Magnus Boee leads the league with three victories and five podium finishes. He has finished all six races in the top five.
  • Utah's Samuel Hendry has won both races he has competed in this year. He recently earned a place on Canada's U23 World Championships team after competing in Nor-Am Cup races in Quebec.
  • Denver's Bernhard Flaschberger recently earned his first career victory in the Owl Creek Chase last weekend in Aspen. He has finished three of the four races he has competed in the top five.
  • Utah's Luke Jager ranks tied for second in the league with three podium finishes in the four races he has competed.
  • Alaska Anchorage's Sigurd Roenning is also tied for second in the league with three podium finishes.
  • Utah's Maximilian Bie also has multiple podiums this year with two.
  • Other skiers who have finished on the podium are Utah's Logan Diekman and Alaska Anchorage's Espen Persen.
  • Montana State's Zanden McMullen has finished in the top five three times this year.
