A Total Of 16 RMISA Current, Former Athletes At Olympics

PYEONGCHANG, South Korea—Sixteen skiers who have competed in the RMISA will compete at the 2018 Olympics.

The group includes four current student-athletes taking time from the collegiate season to compete in PyeonChang:

Petra Hyncicova, Colorado, Nordic Skiing, Czech Republic
2017 NCAA freestyle and classic champion, five-time All-American. One race win and five podium finishes this year.

Andrea Komsic, Denver, Alpine Skiing, Croatia
Two-time All-American. Three podium finishes this year. She is competing in her second Olympics (2014).

Casey Wright, Alaska Anchorage, Nordic Skiing, Australia
Two-year NCAA competitor. One top five finish this year.

Johanna Taliharm, Montana State, Biathlon, Estonia
2017 freestyle All-American. She will compete in her second Olympic games in the biathlon (2014).

Several former student-athletes will also be competing in the Olympics:

Dominic Demschar, Utah, Alpine Skiing, Australia
Two-time first-team All-RMISA. He is competing in his second Olympics (2014).

Snorri Einarsson, Utah, Nordic Skiing, Iceland
2007 NCAA Classic Champion, three-time All-American.

Erik Bjornsen, Alaska Anchorage, Nordic Skiing, USA
All-American in the classic in 2011 after finishing second. He is a two-time Olympian (2014).

Sadie Bjornsen, Alaska Anchorage, Nordic Skiing, USA
All-American in the classic in 2009 after finishing third. She is a two-time Olympian (2014).

Dave Duncan, Alaska Anchorage, Ski Cross, Canada
Competed from 2003-06. Career-best finish third in collegiate competition. He is competing in his second Olympics (2014).

Mark Engel, Utah, Alpine Skiing, USA
In his one season at Utah, he was the 2014 NCAA giant slalom champion.

Leif Haugen, Denver, Alpine Skiing, Norway
2010 NCAA giant slalom champion. Three-time All-American. Making his third Olympic appearance (2010, 2014).

Trevor Philp, Denver, Alpine Skiing, Canada
Five-time All-American. Competing in his second Olympics (2014).

Erik Read, Denver, Alpine Skiing, Canada
2016 NCAA men’s slalom champion. Four-time All-American.

Joanne Reid, Colorado, Biathlon, USA
2013 NCAA freestyle champion. Seven-Time All-American.

Roni Remme, Utah, Alpine Skiing, Canada
A three-time All-American, she finished third in the giant slalom at 2017 NCAA Championship.

Jessica Yeaton, Montana State, Nordic Skiing, Australia
Earned first-team All-America honors in the classic in 2014.

Also notable are a pair of Nordic skiers who competed at Alaska Fairbanks prior to the Nanooks joining the RMISA. Logan Hanneman (2011-15) and Tyler Kornfield (2009-13) were both NCAA Championship competitors for UAF and will compete for the USA.

Scotty Veenis, an alpine speed coach for the USA, won the 2006 NCAA giant slalom championship and was a three-time All-American at Utah.
