PARK CITY, Utah—Rinse and repeat. In an almost identical scenario to last week's MSU Invitational, the Utah Utes put up a dominant performance as its alpine teams picked up where its Nordic teams left off last month to put the wraps on one of the most dominant performances in RMISA history.
The Utes racked up an astonishing 757 points, just a day after CU had put up 740 as the fifth most in league history in the meet that was the opposite of this one, where the Nordic team and close out what the alpine team started.
Much like the MSU meet, the Utes dominated all phases, earning the most points in each of the four disciplines to earn a meet sweep. The 757 points is the third most all-time behind Ute performances of 762 and 760 points in 2021 and '22 respectively.
Women's GS was up first and CU's Louison Accambray won her second straight GS race by again winning both runs and cruising to a 1.45 second victory. She topped DU's Sara Rask while Utah's Kaja Norbye took third. Montana State's Justine Lamontagne was fourth and then two Utes finished fifth and sixth with Kaila Lafreniere and Evelina Fredricsson earning those spots.
The men's GS race was dominated by the Buffs, with Etienne Mazellier winning and Louis Fausa taking second, followed by two Utes in Simon Strand and Johs Herland. CU then took four of the top six with Filip Wahlqvist rounding out the top five and Jacob Dilling finishing sixth en route to a season best 106 points. Utah was second with 90.
In women's slalom action, Denver's Sara Rask continued her hot streak picking up a win by two tenths of a second over Utah's Kaja Norbye. Alaska Anchorage cracked two skiers into the top five with Ella Bromee hitting the podium in third place and Ainsley Profitt taking fourth. Claire Timmermann rounded out the top five for the Utes. The race had just 17 collegiate finishers, less than half the field.
The men's race wasn't much better with just 19 collegiate finishers and Colorado's Filip Wahlqvist won his fourth straight slalom of the season, and sixth dating back to last year's RMISA and NCAA Championships. He was joined on the podium by two Utes, Johs Herland and Harry Hoffman, while UAA's Jan Ronner and Nevada's Jeger Halbjoerhus rounded out the top five.
Teams now head to Alaska where the alpine teams will close out the UAA Invitational and compete in the RMISA Championships.
